I did managed to make it work on a LAN game, one player in Vivecraft and another in PC mode

not any real issue, just a visual / cosmetic bug where the portals are transparent, I can slightly see inside and outside, but the regular purple swirls are in the way a little

That sounds like it's working as it should. You can configure the degree of opacity in the config.
