In addition to outputting power directly, there should be a "hard" (?) mode where the reactor outputs Railcraft steam instead, which then has to be converted to actual MJ/t power (or EU/t using the Railcraft turbines).

This would provide the possibility of bigger more complex setups. In this mode, the reactor should also need as much water intake as it outputs steam and in case of an inbalance, melt down :P

I know this is a feature request that is probably low priority as long as the primary function of the mod isn't implemented yet, but I still wanted to put it out there.

This is now on the roadmap for 0.3/0.4, closing.

This is planned; it'll be part of the active cooling system, where you pump coolant in and receive heated coolant instead of the reactor simply generating power.

One of the coolants will be water, which produces steam as its heated output.
