As you know, the alcohol module was never finished. We discussed this among the Starchasers and came up with some ideas to polish it out.
I don't intend to add any new machines (especially for single recipes). Drinks could be crafted in a normal crafting table. Binnie added various types of glasses with varying volumes. Cocktail recipes could be done so:

  1. Use the Bottler to fill, for example, shot glasses with the libation of your choice.
  2. In the crafting table, mix the drinks according to a recipe.
    [ *3, *5, null]
    [ , null, null]
    [ null, null, null]

That gives you a cocktail.(Using different glasses and drink sizes can reduce the numbers in the recipe, it's about proportion)
Another neat addition would be to have the ability to mix cocktails that don't have a pre-defined recipe with a strong negative effect. The "proper" cocktails would give both a good and bad buff.
The main debuff (Drunkness) should have levels (I-V) Each drank cocktail or shot would increase Drunkness by 1 and also give it's respective buff. Drunkness III could start giving VERY negative debuffs. Some ideas:

  • Randomly modify the walking direction.
  • Getting pulled to walls.
  • When crafting, a randomly high chance of getting scrap
  • Nausea
  • Poison
  • Wavy effect like the nether portal.
  • Slowness

Drunkness IV and V ccould also give hunger when ending - like a hangover.
We could also track the playesr Blod Alcohol and reduce it onPlayerTick and increase depending on the drink (Binnie already has ABV for that). That would make the effects dependent on the level of that variable.

I think this would not only clear up the intent of this module, but also give a challenge to potential bartenders. We don't add a specific, overly complicated machine, and mixing through the crafting table seems logical enough.
Also, this metod enables us to mix in stuff lice ice cubes, sugar or fruit, making even more recipes available.

Sounds good.
For buffs we might add very small % benefits to things like breeding bees and trees, mining ores (chance of fortune for one specific ore only like lapis or coal), fishing, and that kind of thing depending on the cocktail ingredients.
