im wanting to add this mod to an existing modpack (nomifactory ceu) but i get no interface to add axes or hoppers which is very annoying and i cant figure it out

Previous versions did not have gui's. For example, you crafted an hopping version instead of adding a hopper. What version of MC is your modpack?

Got it. For 1.12.2 you will need to craft the hopping bonsai. Also, if I recall correctly, for that version a shovel is convenient if you ever want to replace the dirt.

when i try to change the drops in the config in game nothing actually changes but the config stays saved, any idea on how to change drop amounts and drop chances?

Otherwise, maybe try to see how other 1.12.2 modpacks did it? Sky Factory 4 comes to mind but it might not be the best example because it used a specialized mod called Sky Bonsais to do the main integration. Perhaps see how other packs from that era modified the default bonsai recipes? I suppose that CraftTweaker and perhaps KubeJS may help you. FTB Presents Stoneblock 2 is another 1.12.2 pack that comes to mind.
