Gaia guardians very broken

Hello, I don't know if this was reported a while ago or if it's a new thing. Neither if it's a known issue, but upon trying to find a bug report I wasn't able to. So here I am writing it (sorry no visual aid but Ill try to be detailed). Botania is an incredibly interesting mod that I started two weeks ago on Infinity server.

The problem with gaia guardians is.. they can be killed with no armor..
If I am to attack it directly, run up to it, chase it around, try to avoid wither effect, get through mob spawning phase and all, the fight is tough (especially gaia 2) and that is how it should be. It's incredibly fun though. Trouble is, there is a way to avoid that all.
I firstly noticed it with gaia 1 ritual. I have draconic evolution armor, so pretty op, can just stand still and withstand all effects and such.. (havent started botania before I hit endgame..) so I thought, why not get cheaper and worse armor and try to fight gaia. I have changed only armor so I'll mention what other baubles I had on me while I was testing.
I had heart canisters 2 types + ring of odin I aquired before so pretty much 40 hearts. When it comes to baubles, I had ring of far reach, ring of odin, tectonic girdle to avoid knockback and crimson pendant that prevents fire damage. Aside from that I kept using excaliber sword, no other extra items and just kept trying cheaper and cheaper armor. Also my set up, area near the beacon where gaia spawns, has 4 regen flowers and 4 flowers harming mobs (to kill mobs that spawn from gaia efficiently).
Now, all this sounds ok, should be a legit fight, probably pretty tough with less armor. Items in my inventory have raised my survivability by a lot, especially heart canisters + regen flowers, so I decided to risk more. Upon trying leather armor I noticed I dont even need to fight gaia.. I can just range it.. And this is a major exploit. I can use an ingot to spawn it, back away, wait till it properly spawns and just stand still and range it with excaliber.. Gaia will take damage, but it will ONLY stand on the beacon and won't attack me whatsoever. If I continue hurting it, it will continue to lose health and without taking aggro on me and attacking me and without even entering mob spawning phase it will die. I was very shocked when that happened. So I decided to go further.
I spawned 4 gaia guardians for 2nd ritual at the same time. Just used 4 ingots on the beacon and backed away. 4 gaia spawned and I stood there. I had no armor and just ranged all of them. They died without attacking me and without even entering mob spawning phase. Just stood there on the beacon. This is a huge problem since they just don't get aggrovated. If I was to approach beacon a normal fight would begin. Having more guardians at the same time makes fight exponentially harder but a lot more fun with good armor. This way it's just upsetting. Gaia should attack the player upon taking damage, not just stand on the beacon, but that won't happen unless the player gets a bit closer to it. Also, spawning more gaia guardians should not be possible.. It's fun and all, but it would be better to get an error message after having one spawned already.
Yesterday I managed to range 6 gaia guardians from 2nd ritual with no damage taken + having no armor. I won't continue doing this, because it's no fun. I'd rather test my limits and fight more with crappy armor trying to survive. But I felt like reporting this mess, because it exploits gaia fight greatly.

Playing Infinity 1.7.0. botania is R1.6 193. No optifine.

Can spawn multiple gaia guardians at the same time.
Can ''range'' the gaia guardians using Excaliber, without taking damage from them and without triggering fight and mob spawning phase. Gaia stands on the beacon until it dies not attacking the player. It moves away from the beacon only when approached, then a regular fight begins. This all, however; can be avoided by ranging it.

Sorry for trouble, just tried to be descriptive since I cannot upload video of the problem. Thought it would be more of a help.

@Creswald How do you get far enough away from the fight to not trigger the stages? When I try to do that, I get pushed back by an pink wall...

I just stepped back from the beacon, still within the wall gaia created.
Tried to test the distance and even 5 blocks from he beacon (standing on the 5th block) I can still do this without gaia attacking me. Gaia just stands still on the beacon. If I was to get closer it starts to teleport away and attacks me.
(I use ingot and get away, while its in the air and it's health is regenerating.)

@Creswald The Excaliber homing in on bosses was fixed in 755a04a.

It's not ''homing'' on the boss, I just aim at it and it hits it while it is standing still. If you are referring to Excalibers behaviour to target hostiles.
The whole problem here is that gaia is not attacking unless it is approached, so I can just range it. No phases trigger.

Tried it just now with Terra Blade. Same thing. It's not just Excaliber. These two swords let me shoot mana from a distance that let's me kill gaia without approaching it enough to trigger its attacks and phases.
I think you mean issue with the Excaliber which was homing on the boss even when I missed it and did not hit it. I am saying that mana beams the swords emit hit it and deal damage to it, which make sense, that's what the swords are for. But at the very beginning of the fight, when I move away 5 blocks I can just wait till it materializes properly (its health goes up all the way and it stands on the beacon) and can kill it without triggering the phases.

Tried it with the newer version and it seems fixed.
Sorry for the trouble and thanks for responses!
Will try to test things in newer versions first.
