I was testing an Endoflame and Exoflame setup when I found something strange. If you feed an Endoflame a block of coal, wait for it to finish producing mana, then place an Exoflame next to a filled furnace, it smelts about 45 items. The same goes for if the Exoflame was powering 9 furnaces; 45 total smelted.
However, if you place down the Exoflame BEFORE feeding the Endoflame a block of coal, one furnace will smelt about 52 items. Nine furnaces will smelt 351 items (39 in each furnace). (And if the endoflame was on enchanted soil, the 9 furnaces smelted 180 items total.)
