I have thought that using food to obtain mana can be very practical. the amount of mana it generates is compared to the ingredients the food has, for example: Bread, generates a little mana through a short period of time, uses 3 wheat; Cake, uses milk, wheat, egg, and sugar, burns the cake into mana longer than bread.
