In inventory they look fine, but they often have strange colormappings. If the meta is divisible by 4, they'll only place vertically with the correct color.

Same issue as the slabs, they probably need a fifth bit for drawing upside down. I may look into changing stairs into a tile entity to get more than a nibble for meta data, then I can consolidate the stairs back into a single block instance.
