It's not socially accepted to put gradle files in your repo, but sure, go wild, less work for me to get them myself.

No its standard accepted practice in my field and standard gitignore setups don't ignore them.

Standard gitignore setups don't exclude them because Gradle is fairly new and not extremely common compiler.
