I'm not entirely sure on the range. It will absorb any lightning that would have struck within the radius. Also other trees cannot grow in the radius of another fully grown tree by default since they fight over the same lightning and can both activate in some cases.

Sure, how much mana do we want to take. Saplings can drop but its considerably less likely than normal.

I think that fire should definitely be at least attempted, even if it's a blanket extinguish. It'd be better than leaving the flames there.

Yea i just set it up to extinguish anything in a 4 block radius of the strike.

I haven't noticed that occurring...
