Using the newest version of buddycards, it seems that buddy medals are transferable. I thought buddymedals (according to the video) only apply the affect if the owner has opened packs to get all the cards?

That's the intention, but it hasn't been implemented yet because of priorities. I'll leave this here as a reminder to do it at a later date after battles is finished.
