Lasers draw power when idle

I'm not sure if they are supposed to but assembly lasers draw power even when idle.

If this was intended could their at least be a config option for it?

pipes now have no loss. the standby energy draw is a balance. in many
situations you have much more energy as a result of this change.

1 MJ/t idle draw is not a balance for pipes being lossless.

Lasers are often setup in large grids (30+ or 136 in my case) and used rarely (which is why a large number is needed - to provide the power when required). Changing the lasers to be loss-ly would be balance. All the idle draw does is force players to setup overly complicated systems to disconnect the lasers when not in use which just causes more drain on a server and adds nothing to game play.

I disagree, setting up such systems is indeed gameplay. Many techmods do this, making some aspect of the game easier or more convenient, but adds additional challanges instead.

Also, as I have mentioned elsewhere, we feel that the BC power system has been going the wrong way for some time and was trending towards a system too similar to other energy systems, for example IC2. Expect changes.
