Pumps, Redstone, and Gate Actions...

So I run BC with Railcraft and Traincraft and Mystcraft. I think Railcraft has the World Anchor, which is essentially a chunk loader.

I made a Mystcraft age, and was lucky enough to find a massive underground lava lake. I placed the world anchor (keept loaded 9x9 chunks), keep it fueled, placed the pump near it, and it started to work.

Then I placed an ender tank on top of the pump and it sent the lava to my homebase in another dimension.

Now here's the problem: Once I leave the Mystcraft age and go back to the base in overworld dimension, lava stops being sent from the Mystcraft dimension. So I go back to the age to check it out, and the pump is no longer working.

I have to break the pump and replace it to work again. If I leave the age/dimension, it'll stop working again.

At first I thiought it was the Railcraft World Anchor malfunctioning, so I went with chicken chunk loader, same problem. So essentially I'm stuck in the Mystcraft age to keep the lava pumping.

I also thought it was the Mystcraft age causing it, so I went to the Nether. Same problem.

Does it only apply to Lava or all Fluids?
Is is MCPC+?

commented

All fluids. No MCPC+, just Forge and single player.

commented

I'm guessing you forgot to put ender pearls in the world anchor.

commented

Can anyone duplicate?

commented

Just close it. As I said before, he probably forgot to put enderpearls in his world anchor.

commented

He said he also tried with chickenbones' chunk loader, and it's the same problem. AFAIK, they don't require fuel.

commented

Ah, didn't properly read that. Sorry.

commented

has anybody tried this in the overworld? do all the pumps keep working when you go to the nether and hop back? could be something with switching dimensions

commented

Hmm, I read this and checked my pump. (lava overworld only)

953/412 -> Pump renders and works normal
953/421 -> Pump renders no pumping-pipe beneath it (the yellow/black) and no lava comes out...

hmm, breaking/placing pump did not change condition.

commented

Found the reason on my setup

I usually put a lever on my pump to give the surrounding engines their redstone signal

953/412 -> engines and pump work normal
953/421
-> Pump seems to turn off on redstone signal, no pumping, no pumping pipe
-> turning lever off, turns engines off and rest of lava comes out of pump, pumping pipe goes down into lava
-> placing levers on the engines so pump does not get restone signal -> normal operation

seems pump is now responding to redstone signal. did not know that.

commented

yes you can disable pumps now completly with redstone signal

commented

Flow make that to a gate option. I use redstone signals on the pump to power my engines. (Saves a space and time)

commented

yep some nice gate actions would be better, but I don't know what CovertJaguar thinks about that

commented

I think he would implement it. He already made something like that to his rockcrusher!

commented

It would be pretty simple, most machines already support those actions.

commented

ok.
CovertJaguar i have a request for you. (I know normaly not this thread) Could you add a Iron Conductive pipe (i do not know how to write the new name for it). But it uses the same logic as Liquid Iron Pipe.
That would be something what would help people a lot. Also with power adjustment (so you can preventor create loops with redstone signals)
I could implement that too but it would be better in the Vannilla BC

commented

I would like to second changing the pump shut off on redstone behaviour - I have a gate on the pipe above the pump that put out a redstone signal to power the redstone engines for the pipe when I needed more oil. Now the engines turn on but the pump shuts off. >.<

commented

@Speiger an "iron conductive pipe" already exists in ABO, if you want an "diode"-style pipe to prevent backflow

commented

I have ABO installed. But NEI can not find it. Also ABO pipes are not the best (only at the power pipes). The Golden PowerSwitchPipe has a energytransferlimit of 8 MJ which is kind of stupid! i Would understand 64-128 MJ because it has a switch in it. Anyway if CJ does not implement it then i add it to my emerald conductive pipe which is already there xD

Speiger

commented

Ok thanks. But i think we need also a diamond Switch pipe for bc. XD my Battery station can export up to 1000 MJ per tick. and that is a lot. My emerald pipe can handle that everything else not xD.
I mean i run my 4 quarries at the same time with it. and i still have a lot MJ left! About 1-2 million

XD

@Speiger

I use the Switch Kinesis Pipe from AdditionalPipesBC. the 8 MJ limit was fixed with version 2.5.0

tcooc> Yeah, the switch kinesis pipe needs to allow as much power through as it needs.
tcooc> Should be added in next release.

It still needs to be updated for 4.2.1.. 2 pull requests pending. Steven, wake up please :)

No one seems to have taken ownership of this one yet. Closing for now. Feel free to discuss further on http://mod-buildcraft.com/forums/index.php?board=4.0.
