Breaking pipes in creative drops pipe plugs

Would it be possible to make it so that when you break a pipe in creative with a pipe plug on it, the plug isn't dropped?

I'll have a quick look on this one for 5.0.3. Seem like the fix has been identified and is easy enough.

Definitely technically feasible :P

There's several discussions on how to handle item drop in future releases - as you can see, the direction of the dropped item is wrong. One possibility that seems to have a lot of traction would actually be to never drop items. The current workaround, however, is to end your pipe system with an iron pipe, which will have the same effect.

Let me close this issue for now, as this is part of a wider discussion. Feel free to open on http://www.mod-buildcraft.com/forums/forum/feature-ideas/ though!

/me pokes @SpaceToad: I believe he was talking about the item for plugs dropping in creative mode like they do in normal SSP when you break the pipe block. (Blocks should not drop anything in creative.)

commented

that is what i was talking about, also shift clicking to remove one in creative drops one

Arf, reopening. Thanks for bearing with me guys :-)

Not really. The torch drops because of the onNeighbourUpdate (or whatever it's called) while the pipe drops the plug itself.

I'm well aware the why. But that doesn't change the fact of the apparent behaviour..

but the removing of the plug by shift clicking while in creative should be easy to fix

The question here: are plugs attached to the pipe or part of the pipe. Consider a torch on a block. Break the block, and the torch drops as an item, it doesn't disappear, inconvenient though it may be.. Gates and plugs follow this lead, IMO.
