Illuminations 1.6.1
How you triggered the behavior
I was almost convinced it happens randomly, but upon further testing, it might be a mod interaction with illuminations -- although illuminations simply apply emissive using materialmaps json to my knowledge, a bug with materialmaps seem more likely. It used to happen without illuminations in an older Canvas version but something might have changed.
What you expected would happen
Particles are correctly emissive or not according to their material.
What actually happened
Emissive particles randomly loses emissivity and non-emissive particles randomly becomes emissive.
Logs and screenshots
In this gif, you can see the heart particle blinking and the smoke particle sometimes glow. The heart particle is supposed to be consistently emissive, while the smoke particle isn't supposed to be emissive at all.
