Vanilla Bug: Translucent particles rendered as solid

Reported initially by @InsomniaKitten. Appears to be a vanilla bug, possibly related to #16 .
Mojang put themselves in a fix here: particles are normally solid and render before translucent so they have proper depth sorting. However smoke just looks bad as solid, so it looks like they accepted the compromise. Maybe something they plan to tackle with Blaze3d.
Would take a big change to fix - deferred for now.
