Mods that can transmit Redstone such as MFRs rednet or thermal dynamics ducts do not activate the garage and regular doors. The only way to power them is to put Redstone dust next to the rednet cable or duct. Repeaters and other vanilla rs blocks work as well.

I will have to look into this a bit later. Out of curiosity, is it broken for Hatches as well? The way it checks for changes in power state is fairly standard, so I'm not sure what would be causing this.
