This is probably related to the bug where zombie villagers would dismount minecarts when cured, as a new mob is created. If implemented, this might make Wither Skeletons converted by lightning keep their old gear (from when they were just a normal Skeleton), and I think it would be interesting to be able to have Wither Skeletons with Bows, similarly to how you can get a Skeleton to hold a Sword.
