I have followed a couple of different tutorials on 1.12 dragon egg bedrock breaking, but no matter what it doesn't work. (tested on both multi and singleplayer)

It works for me, iirc I tested in 1.19. I definitely used it in 1.18.2. One of the mistakes I initially made is not doing it in a lazy chunk by accident, since I did it in the spawn chunks, so make sure the chunk you’re doing it in is actually lazy?

I ran it in lazy chunks and outside of the spawn chunks. I did it over several different chunk distances and made sure everything was running in a lazy chunk. I tried every method under the sun and at chunk distances ranging from 2 up to 16: nothing worked.

Did you make sure the carpet rule was enabled?

Going to close this given there's been no activity for a while and it seems like it worked for many people, though please reopen it/open a new one if it's still an issue.

It works for me. You may be doing it wrong.
