I just saw what I consider to be a great idea in the comments of one of ilmango's videos.
The title explains the feature, here are my thoughts:
It would be easy to make hoppers transfer at dropper speed, but an interesting challenge to make them transfer every 2 ticks or even every 1 tick, especially in a lag-friendly way.
Putting in some effort to make one hopper fast, rather than spreading items over multiple hoppers or using a hmc, doesn't seem overpowered to me, just a nice alternative.
Additionally, I believe this would (or could) make instant hopper lines work consistently. This was used in one of cubucmetre's videos (achieved via moveable block entities) to create a constant-time item-request based storage system.
This would be in addition to #74
