Mobs can be placed inside walls

Actual Behavior
Mobs can be placed inside certain solid blocks. For shorter mobs (chickens, pigs, cats, etc), this results in death by suffocation.
This can be done with any solid block shorter than a full block. This includes dirt paths and farmland blocks. I do not know of any other vanilla blocks this can occur with.
This does not occur with soulsand, as they occupy a full block despite their hitbox being shorter.
Expected Behavior
Mobs probably should not be able to be placed within these blocks. Or keep it, it's kinda funny. Though I did discover this bug by accidentally killing a cat
Steps to Reproduce
- Place a path block or farmland block adjacent to a solid, full-sized block
- Pick up a mob
- Aim crosshair at the sliver of the solid block poking out above the path block
- Place mob
Version of Minecraft, Carry On, Forge/Fabric
I have recorded a video of me suffocating a pig with a path block. This video was recorded on Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.2.0, Carry On 2.1.2.7, along with some other mods I was playing with at the time.

After the fact, I tested with Minecraft 1.20.4, Forge 49.0.50, Carry On 2.1.3 without any other mods installed. The issue still occurs in this scenario as well.
