Tinkers' Construct (TiC) allows recycling items using its smeltery. TiC's recipes were created with vanilla recipes in mind.

• 3 Iron nuggets -> 1 Chain -> 2 nuggets, 1 ingot (+8 nuggets)
• 6 Iron nuggets -> 3 Rails -> 1 ingot (+3 nuggets)
• 6 Iron nuggets -> 3 Activator Rails -> 3 ingots (+2 ingots, 3 nuggets)
• 6 Iron nuggets -> 3 Detector Rails -> 3 ingots (+2 ingots, 3 nuggets)
• 6 Gold nuggets -> 1 Activator Rail -> 1 ingots (+3 nuggets)

Same sort of response that KnightMiner gave, these features are just inherently incompatible, but you can disable them with a datapack or account for them.
