Glowstone disappears from Chalk Box when closed, when running on server.

This issue only happens when running the mod on a server. In my case I am using an Apex MC server. When I put Glowstone or Glow Ink Sacks in the Chalk Box, the glow item is deleted as soon as I close the Chalk Box UI. The glow item also disappears when I try to remove it from the slot in the chalk box. The bar that represents the amount of glow uses also is reset when closing the UI.
So far have not been able to replicate this behavior in Single Player. I also validated all of the config files to make sure the glow settings are what I expect.
