Cannot perform X because `Minecraft` is null - 1.21.6+ on omni

How to reproduce

Run the minecraft client on the omnivers branch on any version after 1.21.6, and try to use chat patches stuff. Sometimes crashes on startup (blames ChatLog#saveIfPaused(.)). Does not happen on non-omni 1.21.6+
