Game Freezes Often
I built a big statue consisting only of stone bricks, slabs, vertical slabs and a slab I created using Chisel. After applying the Chisel slabs, my game began to freeze every 30 seconds. It then shortened down to 5 seconds. After restarting the game, I still got freezing. (I would uninstall Chisel, but I spent over 5 hours straight on that statue..)
Project Becomes Suddenly Uneditable
When working on a Chisel project, the project will suddenly become uneditable, not allowing me to add/remove pixels nor allowing me to break it with tools. When it glitches, it acts pretty much like bedrock, except I cannot make any sort of contact with it. (though it still can be stood on like a block)
Single Player - Happens from time-to-time. Can exit world then go back in for fix.
Multiplayer Server - Happens very often. Takes hours to wear off and allow me to edit it again. Or a server restart.
Server Crashes
I was the only one on the server who made a few projects using Chisel. Me and my mc neighbors (lived in the same forest) were trying to log on one day when we continuously crashed after every attempt to join the world. Owner looked at crash logs and noticed that Chisel was causing us to crash. After the owner re-added Chisel, deleting my projects in the process, we no longer crashed. (he simply deleted the mod shortly after)

I assume you quit trying to update Chisel, but I just wanted to give it a shot. I really like the mod but the glitches are really annoying. Please update it.. It's been almost a year.
