Power to commit/merge

I propose that dan200 grant the power to commit directly to this repository and merge pull requests to someone else. Otherwise this repository will essentially just sit and nothing will get done. If another leader were elected, issues could be closed and pull requests could be merged. Thoughts?

@SquidDev is a good candidate in my opinion

I also suggest @SquidDev

Given that there are three people suggesting @SquidDev now, myself included particularly as I was the first, I feel it's necessary to state that I do not wish to put pressure on @dan200 and @SquidDev to go through with this. While I agree that, due to his other commitments, @dan200 cannot put as much time into CC as some members of the community may wish. I suggested @SquidDev as a candidate for this due to his in-depth knowledge of CCs code, most likely due to working on CC-Tweaks and Unborked.

Couldn't agree with what everyone is saying more.. I'd say it's unanimous SLAM..

While dan didnt grant or not squid to manage the repo, why not pull request against CC Tweaks repo? Since the main goal of this fork is to pull all changes toward the main CC repo, it could be a thing while we wait...

Considering that dan200 has not responded on this, neither any other PR/Issue for several months I agree that futher pulls should be directed to CC:Tweaked I would be interested on what @SquidDev has to say about this.

Duplicate of #435? :p

Firstly, CC:T. My stance has always been that it's best to submit a PR against this repository and I'll merge/cherry-pick it onto the CC:T repo. I don't really want CC:T to exist at all and, while I think it's the only half-decent fork out there, I don't want to see it become the primary version in the long term.

That being said, I have no clue what's going to happen when 1.13 dropsthough this could still be a long time. Unless some of the existing PRs are merged soon-ish, there's going to be an awful lot of conflicts which will have to be sorted out.

Random thoughts I'm chucking this in a spoiler as I think it needs to be said, but I'm not sure it's conclusive to the discussion at hand.

As far as CC and it's maintenance goes, Dan and I had a discussion about it all back when 1.80pr1 dropped and he was open to me taking a supporting role in the development of CC. It's quite possible he's changed his mind since then (I can't say I blame him :)).

I think it's worth noting that Dan, unlike some of us, does have a life outside of CC. I believe the game he's currently working on is released in 10 days, so he has much more important things to worry about :). After all, there's no obligation to work on CC.

That being said, it would be really nice to hear some noise from Dan, even if it's just "sorry guys, I'm really busy right now/haven't got motivation to work on CC/etc...". I've tried to get in contact with Dan several times over the few months (as have the forum staff in order to fix some issues, though obviously I can't speak for them) and it does rather feel like shouting into the void.

I'm going to be honest, I really struggle to write about this, as I'm well aware of the sense of entitlement that permeates the gaming community. There's part of me which desperately loves CC and wants to see it live on for many years to come, there's part of me which is frustrated every time I need to rebase a PR, and there's part of me which is just saying that we need to let Dan do whatever the hell he wants and stop worrying about this mod.

As an addendum, I think it's really important to say how grateful I am for all Dan has done on CC. I think it's very easy for to fall into the trap of continuously demanding things, which then leads to the feeling to how ever much you do, it's never enough.

Dan has done an astounding job, both in the years before it was open sourced, all the cleaning up he did before setting up the repo, and in managing it in the last year or so. He's reviewed well over 200 PRs (and merged 144 of them), which in itself is an amazing effort, so โ™ก.

If there's a mod you really enjoy, be it CC or something else, do see if they have the ability to donate! There's an awful lot of people creating amazing content for free. CC's donate link can be found on the website.

Oh goodness, I'm really sorry for the (mildly incoherent) wall of text. Feel free to yell at me where I've said something silly. I've rather been avoiding this issue as the whole premise makes me feel rather uncomfortable, but I also felt I needed to get something down :/.
