too big nbt crash caused by update to c+ 0.4.0 or higher

Describe the bug
With c+ 0.4.0 or higher installed, I can't create or load worlds in singleplayer, as I get a connection lost error.
This error does not occur on servers!
The log shows an error about too big nbt tags being loaded.
Interestingly, removing the aether mod fixes it, but A: I then get a warning that experimental features are enabled and
B: the aether mod alone is not causing it. But reverting c+ to 0.3.3 fixes it with the aether mod as well installed.
I created a video showing that it happens with version 0.4, 0.4.1-rc1 and not with 0.3.3 here (with time stamps):

Additional info
Might be an incompatibility to another mod introduced in 0.4.0 and later, as it doesn't happen with no other mods installed (I can upload my mods folder if wanted (but don't tell anyone :P))
try with XL packets and report back

Thanks, the issue doesn't happen anymore with XL packets, thank you so much!
