I'm finding that if I click on any of the slots in my inventory, whether they contain an item or not, the state of the cooking table partially resets, and things shuffle around. Items in the recipe list will appear to swap places, and any locked elements in the recipe grid on the left will become unlocked.

Notably, the selected item in the recipe list that may appears to change position is still the previous recipe for that index in the list as long as you don't click on a different recipe list entry; it changes the icon, but not the selected recipe. Once you click on another item in the recipe list and click on the original slot, it will be the new item.

These behaviors also trigger when simply crafting a recipe; the position of the selected recipe may change in the list, and the locked item state for the recipe grid resets.
