Currently there is an ongoing problem in several playthroughs I've seen of the mod and somewhat happening to me as well where if the player dies and the witherstorm is close to or over their spawn they will be trapped in a sort of "death-loop" for a while where the storm will basically spawn camp them and kill them over and over again without allowing them to get away.

This can be circumvented at least somewhat with a plan of getting the wither storm away from spawn and/or setting your spawn underground, but it still happens quite often to new players who don't know entirely how the mod works (which is the level of knowledge that is intended on a first playthrough). Getting trapped in a constant death loop and being basically soft-locked for an unknown amount of time isn't really fun and I have an idea that could maybe somewhat resolve this issue.

I'm proposing a sort of "grace period" after death where if you die and you respawn within a certain radius of the storm (call it like 1000 or 2000 blocks), he'll leave you alone for about lets say five minutes before he starts actively hunting you again. This gives you just enough time to get your bearings and restart but still makes it tight enough so that you need to be quick.

Obviously this needs to be only if the player respawns within a certain distance of him, or else it can be used as a cheese to basically stall the storm for a long time and that wouldn't be great.

If there are any other issues this could cause that I'm not seeing then obviously edits can be made or the suggestion can be changed entirely but I feel something has to do to combat the somewhat softlock like death-loop people sometimes experience.

Check to see if you have "headEscapeTime" in the server config. Try turning it up, though I notice it's fairly limited which we can probably change.

For your video, I notice the first time you died after killing the symbiont it wasn't actually targeting you, it just happened to look in the area you were in. But I do see how it picked you up intentionally after respawning which is not five minutes. I'll note this for your other issue you opened related to that.

I'm using 4.2.1, Mc version 1.20.1 there was definitely no grace period on there for me.

Someone else who just started a series on this on the same version also struggled with it. Death loop begins at 4:54

Here you can also see the witherstorm targetting me directly after the symbiont which iirc is not supposed to happen, he's supposed to give you about 5 minutes. (This video does not show the following issue, that was on a different event)
