if i put a (soul)torch on a elevator it doesn't stop oxygen loss/gain (i haven't tested it on anything else )but it probably has the same effect on other contraptions

yeah, that has to do with how Create works, when a block becomes part of a contraption it stops being the block itself with its properties.
