I'm guessing this is rather a topic for Bitterballen and not for EMI but while all Create machinery recipes show up in EMI, anything involving the fryer does not. Some players have recently been moving from JEI/REI to EMI for various reasons and recipes like Farmer's Delight cooking pot stuff seem to be more stable there in my personal experience.

Does this need to be made compatible explicitly?

The mixed support is annoying, yeah. I’ve switched from REI to EMI because Farmer’s Delight’s cooking pot recipes weren’t working there (apparently fixed and re-broken every few weeks and months according to the GitHub issues over there). And now on the EMI side, it’s only the fryer recipes apparently that aren’t working.

Experiencing the same issue. Would be really nice to have EMI integration for the frying recipes since I'm kind of "forced" to use EMI over REI because not all of its addons are on Modrinth.
