just tried overwriting the dependency and from how it seem that might be enough

You shouldn't be downgrading a major mod to satisfy a minor mod's incompatibility. From the looks of it, this developer hasn't been paying attention to their code for some time and certainly not to issues and can't be bothered keeping their versioning up to date with Fabric's requirements. It's a shame because there were nice things in it but if the dev won't put the effort in, why should I?
