Crash from comparator with Item Vault in certain positions

Describe the Bug
Placement is a bit difficult to describe in words, so see the images below. When this configuration is set up, inserting any item into the hopper will crash the game.
Reproduction Steps
- Place Item Vaults, a hopper, and a comparator in one of these configurations:
2. Insert any item into the hopper.
3. The game should crash.
Expected Result
The game does not crash, and the comparator reads the level of the Item Vault.

Additional Context
I have also encountered this crash using item pipes from Modern Dynamics in place of the hopper. This affects Item Vaults of any size or existing fill level, as long as the placement of the comparator and hopper are the same. This crash does not occur with Andesite/Brass Funnels, or when the comparator is in any other position.
