Awkward belt placement causes items to float across the air

When placing a horizontal belt going into a vertical belt, the item going towards the vertical belt clips through it and glides along the air until it meets another belt. I apologise if this is a duplicate, i only recently downloaded create and was experimenting. Playing on 1.16.5
