Impossible to wash items in the Nether

Since you cannot have water in the Nether, it is currently impossible to bulk wash items there, rendering many machines and contraptions inoperable in a Nether-based survival world.

Maybe create automated?

Pinging to appease the bot; this is still something that needs adressing I believe.

It would be nice to see a way to do this included in Create itself rather than an accompanying mod, as this is a core mechanic of the mod that is unavailable in certain dimensions, and as far as I'm aware it's the only thing preventing Nether bases from being viable with Create in mind.

Ping. I believe this would still be a noteworthy issue to resolve in some way, I'm just not sure of how to do so at present.

Pardon the bump, but I had an idea that would be a great first step to solving this issue:

Blowing a fan towards the top of a cauldron full of water should wash items thrown into the cauldron!

commented

One solution would be to allow water to be pumped into encased fans and have that cause them to produce washing particles.

commented

It may not be intended, but this may be the only part that is currently unable to function in a Nether base.

Out of curiosity, if the scenario of Nether base, how would one get the water in the first place?

Piglins trade water bottles which you can put into a cauldron to obtain a bucket of water (they also trade iron nuggets to make a bucket with).

commented

Would like to note that cauldrons should work as a water block according to the fan's "water blocks such as waterlogged slab can be used as a water block for washing items"

commented

also if you didn't know you can make lava wheels.

commented

they are water wheels with lava replacing the water, although you can't do bubble column trick.

Indeed, the issue is that one cannot wash items in the Nether - pretty much everything else has some way to be achieved.
As far as I'm aware cauldrons don't count as a waterlogged block for the washing process, but I do need to re-test this in 1.20.

you do know that I said "Should" but I don't know maybe forge changed API and cauldron can now be "water-logged"

Perhaps the best solution to this is to make cauldrons a pass-through block for fans and allow liquids inside them to count towards processing (e.g. a water cauldron can wash, a lava cauldron can smelt).

Fair, but you cant get copper or zinc in the nether either. andesite is also quite annoying. With a nether based survival, you're going to have to go to the overworld for stuff. you don't need your main base there, but you will have to exit the nether. Create isn't intended for a nether based world.

Perhaps soul fire would be a good option?

magma blocks are a thing....

basically put the lowest rotation power generating setup is to be used only scaled to ludicrous levels to rival a windmill

commented

what do magma blocks do to wash items?

he's not asking for a way to use water wheels in the nether. he's asking for a way to use water-fans to bulk wash items.
however, making washing possible by using a mixer with water would be interesting. using a bucket-porter (a device that sends buckets through a portal and they come back filled) would transfer water to the nether to be used in washing

though curious what if we can use packed ice as a method of nether washing.... hmmm

commented

Packed Ice and/or soul fire both seem like good options to have bulk washing in the nether.
It'd be nice to have my entire factory in the nether whilst travelling to the overworld for ores/stone.
