Items on Crusher can't be picked up, but despawn normally

(Note: Playing with a couple of other mods. If necessary, can try to reproduce with just Create.)
Description
I threw a few too many stacks of items on top of the crushing wheels. When it looked like it wasn't going to be able to process them all before they despawned, I tried to pick them up again; however, I couldn't. I thought this meant Create would prevent the items from despawning until there was space to crush more of them. Unfortunately, I thought wrong - a couple of stacks of valuable ores disappeared eventually.
