Hi, I have not noticed a change in the saws. I am currently playing on 3.1, playing on Forge 35.1.37. I have one cart running along with a mechanical saw running alongside the base of the trees. What is confusing is that some trees may be cut and others aren't.

this is my main tree farm, the other built the exact same just smaller. Thank you much for the help, and sorry for my lack of detailing!

Those trees on the left were cut, the ones on the right were not.

Have you noticed that the saws have changed which might invalidate your farm?
Which versions are you using of Minecraft, Forge, Create, Optifine? - Version numbers please, "latest" isn't specific enough for debugging

Take some screenshots of the setup of the farm as well as the trees that it does cut down.

My guess would be that you're not using enough saws to cut down the entire base of a composite tree - Oaks tend to grow into each other and you need a wide enough saw to detach the tree from the ground lately.
PS. I have no affiliation with this project, but noticed this report and that it was severely lacking in details that would allow the developer to fix the bug - the longer they have to guess what the problem is the fewer bugs they can fix in a week.

I have had this happen to me before. I attempted to build a cart-based tree farm, and only the saws on one side of the contraption would register wood.
