When adjusting the size of an adjustable crate, pressing SHIFT to scroll faster will reset the storage size to the original value rather than adjusting faster. The only way to change the storage size is to scroll forever, increasing/decreasing storage by one item at a time.

Are you playing on a Mac computer?
I have the same problem and have also reported it.
Shift should not work on motors and speed controllers either.

I think it's the same issue as #152
issue is with minecraft interpreting shift scrolling as horizontal scrolling on MacOS
