Problems with breaking of Belts and Shafts

Breaking belts at the shaft breaks the belt and turns it into an item, but makes the shaft disappear from the world entirely.
Shift-Right-Clicking with the Wrench on the origin point of the belt puts belt into inventory, and the shaft as an item on the ground. (origin point referring to the shaft that was first right-clicked with the belt to place it)
I'm pretty sure that the former scenario is supposed to either:
- drop the shaft along with the belt
or
- just drop the belt and keep the shaft in the world as a placed object
either way I'm pretty sure the shaft is intended to be reclaimable and not disappear into the ether.
And the latter is supposed to either:
- put the belt and shaft into inventory
or
- put the belt into inventory and keep the shaft in the world as a placed object
Though breaking the shaft and dropping it as an item could be the intended behavior
Also, Shift-right-clicking with the Wrench anywhere but the origin point does not give back the belt.
