Gantry Issues with Vertical Distance from Player

Discovered when attempting to build an elevator with gantries and linear chassis blocks.

When gantry carriage is close to player (eg. when player is standing on the carriage), gantry carriage moves as predicted along the gantry shaft as had been set in the connected sequenced-gearshift (Fig 1. & Video 1.). When player is far away vertically from the gantry carriage, it only moves a few blocks instead of the full distance set in the gearshift (Fig 2. & Video 2.).

Solutions already attempted without success:

  • Ensuring entire mechanism is in the same chunk
  • Restarting the server
  • Recreating the machine in singleplayer
  • Removing all attached chassis blocks

To reproduce:

  1. Build a gantry shaft at least 60-70m in height
  2. Attach sequenced gearshift with settings moving carriage down and up an equal amount of blocks
  3. Activate the gearshift and remain at the top of the shaft
