JEI Doesn't Function in Hosted Server

I have JEI running with Create on a hosted server on my computer, when I join a single player server it works perfectly fine, but when joining the multiplayer server, it ceases to function, I can't see recipes or uses. Any ideas why this may be?
I had JEI clientside, of course, but the problem was because I was
apparently starting the server via the server starter, and not the forge
universal .jar. my apologies.
