deployer trading

narrative driven issue report :3
so basically when i was playing https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/create-101-season-2 i've noticed wandering traders being very interested in the automatic sandpapering setup, the following pictures below were taken in https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/createtogether to confirm it was not unique to that pack.
you cannot open a wandering trader that has been poked by a deployer:
breaking the deployer does not cause the trading gui to unlock:
here's a freshly spawned wandering trader, notice how it has trades for emeralds:
yet trying to shove in (a stack) of them seems to have no effect: (after all, how would you even select a trade)
the same behavior is also observed with normal villagers, the only difference being that they tend to run around:
as mentioned the above screenshot were taken in the create together modpack (1.0.6), as a "control sample" here is a very minimalistic pack where i have replicated (just the) empty handed poking of a wandering trader, it seems safe to assume that the other situations observed above act no differently:
so anyways, currently its likely a bug since the deployer literally rightclicks stuff and that's how the gui gets opened/locked but not used.
it would be neat if deployers could actually be used to automate trading with villagers, but then you'd somehow have to be able to set what trade you want, and there isn't really such an interface/mechanic available in the mod.
(well you have the item filter cards in which you could whitelist the offer & the reward, but that sounds like a bodge)
for now its probably best if deployers instantly close the trading gui again, or that the connection breaks when broken.
