Bee nests that generate on trees are not collected by mechanical saws

Posting this mostly to get a clarification on whether or not this is expected behavior. If a tree generates with a bee nest on it (5% chance for oak and birch trees when the sapling is planted next to a flower) and the tree is then harvested by a mechanical saw, any bee nests that generate on the tree will be left in place when the rest of the tree is collected. In fact, if the bee nest is in the path of the mechanical saw itself, the contraption will go straight through it.
