I just had a friend make a crafting blueprint for an Andesite Casing using another mod's log block, and it will only accept that specific log block when right clicking on it; if I try to use, say, Spruce Log, it doesn't let me craft it.

You can use Attribute Filters to allow any item with a certain tag to be used in a blueprint recipe. Alternatively, with the blueprint window open, hover over a block in JEI, hit 'R', then click the '+' button, and it will automatically fill in the blueprint such that any items with the accepted tags can be used.
