I'm attempting to create a contraption which places a block every N blocks.

This contraption is meant to place a Redstone Contact only when the Redstone Contact in the rear is detecting. The machine consists of a Redstone Contact, signal inverter, and Deployer with chest.

However, when the machine runs, the redstone on the contraption does not update when the Redstone Contacts connect.

It appears the Redstone Contact on the contraption lights up as it passes, but the redstone which is superglued does not update. I also tried this with the Redstone Links, but they also do not update.

this is intended behavior. redstone will work properly on contraptions in future updates tho, but not as soon as you might expect

Is there a way in the current version to accomplish placing a block every N blocks with a linear contraption?

My goal is to place torches as part of a tunneling machine.

Best non-create solution is just to use a ComputerCraft turtle, i can't think of anything that works with create.
