As seen here, despite the starting advancement In the beginning, let's Create! being initially unlocked, none of its following advancements (like the Andesite Alloy one) are visible from the start, and need to be unlocked blindly to see the rest.

EDIT: it turns out a lot more advancements are hidden, several of which (like the sand paper ones) would be great to have visible to guide progress other than through JEI sifting.
