Idea to datapacks.

How do intermediate outputs work with datapack-added sequenced assembly recipes?
Yes basicly how intermediets work. Also how long/many-sequeces it could have/be.
As I understand it, datapacks cannot introduce new items, so I'm a bit unclear on how to handle the outputs from intermediate steps.
I know u can't make new item(s) in data pack. Tho my question is:
Would i need to make a mod to add them instead ? Example is since when u craft one of the componete it has 3 steps alone as an item meaning if i used datapacks it won't work becuse i don't have 3 steps of a tourch for example tho i don't say that's how it is I'm just asking.
This is already possible, the wiki just hasn't been updated yet.
Here's some implementations:
https://github.com/Creators-of-Create/Create/tree/mc1.18/dev/src/generated/resources/data/create/recipes/sequenced_assembly
Could it be updated in form of how it's set up and how long it could be before jei won't show it.
Also dose this require to add item to the game or can this be added just as a datapack just by making a recipe with items already in game ?
