Describe the Bug

when loading into a world with belts that are glitched the game crashes

Reproduction Steps

  1. make a belt and start the belt rotating
  2. place a gearbox next to the belt that would connect if a shaft was in the belt next to it
  3. place a shaft in the belt such that the belt now connects with the gearbox
  4. restart the game with the belts in this glitched state and Minecraft will crash upon loading into the world.

Expected Result

when the belts get into said gliched stait (explained in the video below) the game will crash upon loading into the world with the gliched belts.

if this is related we could be onto something! I'm going to try to reproduce the crash and analyze the logs.

Unsure if related, but I've noticed when extending belts (via right clicking an end with a belt in hand) the game often crashes. Similarly, sometimes when trying to remove shafts from the middle of belts via the wrench, that wrench'd shaft becomes the new belt end visually, with the rest of the belt remaining there visually. If said belt was being powered (with rotation) or is later powered, this also causes the game to crash.

As you can guess, I've been getting a lot of belt related crashes lately, but am unsure if it's covered in other bug reports such as this one. Pretty sure what you did should also cause a crash, but somehow latching onto the gearbox prevented the crash through some kind of bypass of code.
