Crushing Nether Gold Ore is worse than smelting it

Describe the Bug

Crushing Nether Gold Ore gives 7 + 1 (50%) gold nuggets, but this is less than you get by smelting it (1 ingot = 9 nuggets). I feel like the output of the crushing recipe should be doubled, otherwise there's basically no reason to use it.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Crush Nether Gold Ore
  2. Get less than an ingot
  3. Be sad.

Expected Result

Crushing is more beneficial than smelting, like with iron or copper.
