Describe the Bug

Game froze (not responding) then crashed with the following message:

The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Cannot use BufferBuilder with format: 9 elements: Position=3,Position,Float Color=4,Vertex Color,Unsigned Byte UV0=2,UV,Float UV2=2,UV,Short Normal=3,Normal,Byte Padding=1,Padding,Byte mc_Entity=2,Generic,Short mc_midTexCoord=2,Generic,Float at_tangent=4,Generic,Byte
Exit Code: -1

I was just starting to use the mod in the pack I'm playing.
Made Windmill Bearing, shafts, cogs, sails.
Stuck an andesite casing down just to have something to aim at while trying to place a vertical shaft...
And as soon as I right-clicked, the game froze for a few seconds (hoped it was just a lag spike...) and then crashed.

This happened on another pack I played too, That save file can no longer load. Insta-crash on load...
It broke my game.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Try to place a shaft.
  2. ...
  3. Crash
    ...

Expected Result

Not crash.

Playing a completely different pack, held off on using Create for fear of this crash... Fear was well founded.
My game crashed and the save barely loads before it realizes it's crashed, rendering my save unplayable.
Luckily this time, I had enough foresight to create a backup save.
I'll just unfortunately not use Create for the time being. (Really love this mod and hate that this is happening.)

Hope the crash log helps.
(I have no idea how to understand them.)

I'm experiencing this as well, except for me, I placed down a mill. Pretty much identical log also.

Upon taking a closer look at your crash log, I notice that you're also running Oculus. Given that this is a render pipeline error, maybe it's a compatibility issue?

It looks like the crash is actually due to Flywheel, not Create. I was able to fix the issue by running the command /flywheel backend off
